Nathan at San Diego community meeting

We are the change that we seek. Yes, we can heal this nation. We don't ask you to believe in our ability to bring change, rather, we ask you to believe in yours. We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics. We need change. America will rise again. America, this is our moment. America, this is our moment.

And they want that choice. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. It is a sign of neither courage nor power to shoot rockets at sleeping children, or to blow up old women on a bus. We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics. Change doesn’t come from Washington.

Change comes to Washington. Yes we can. We are a people of improbable hope. Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time.

We are a people of improbable hope. Yes we can. America, this is our moment. Hope will rise again. The audacity of hope! Hope will rise again. This is our time. While we breathe, we will hope.

Yes, we can heal this nation. The audacity of hope! Hope will rise again. There will be setbacks and false starts. This is our time. Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. The audacity of hope! Hope will rise again.

We can not accept a politics that breeds division, and conflict, and cynicism. Hope is not blind optimism. We need change. Hope is not blind optimism. Yes we can. The audacity of hope! While we breathe, we will hope. While we breathe, we will hope.

We don't ask you to believe in our ability to bring change, rather, we ask you to believe in yours. It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballot; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land. The audacity of hope! We need change.
